Service to our Students
I have been serving the public for 36 years in one form or another. I volunteered to serve my country in 1984, and after I retired from the U.S. Army in 2006, my family and I moved to Stafford, Virginia. My daughter attended Stafford County Public Schools and I became a Virginia Court Appointed Special Advocate. I have also been a library storyteller, a Brownie Troop-leader and a church dance instructor. For the past few years now, I have served as a life-skills facilitator with the Rappahannock Regional Jail. As a former member of Stafford NAACP's Executive Board, I mentored our Youth Council and stressed the importance of community service, voting and education.
As a retired veteran, I understand the meaning of service. Whether serving my country or serving the students of Stafford County, I am committed to dedicated work that positively impacts our children's future. The military has equipped me with a detailed understanding of the seven steps to problem solving that I intend to employ as a member of the school board. Likewise, I intend to use my experience as a compassionate mother and grandmother to address the concerns of the parents in the community head-on.
